About

Hello there, I’m Jesse. Whether we’re old friends catching up or new acquaintances just meeting, I’m genuinely glad you’re here. Welcome to The Real Zeal!

At the core of this blog lies a quest for genuine fervor and understanding in our pursuit of God. Inspired by Romans 10:2, where Paul speaks of his Jewish kinsmen as being ‘zealous for God, but without knowledge,’ The Real Zeal seeks to marry passion with insight on our spiritual journey.

Reflecting on the words of the Apostle Paul in Acts 17, particularly his address to the Athenians, we find a striking parallel with the spiritual landscape in places like Thailand. Paul acknowledged their religious devotion, noting that they were ‘very religious in every way.’

Yet, Paul didn’t stop there. He went on to proclaim the truth about the ‘unknown god’ they worshiped, revealing that this God, whom they ignorantly worshiped, was the Creator of all things. Paul urged them to turn from their idols and embrace the truth of Jesus Christ, the resurrected Savior.

As a Baptist missionary in Thailand, I’ve experienced firsthand the depth of religious fervor in this diverse and spiritually zealous land. Yet, like Paul’s encounter in Athens, this zeal often lacks the foundational truth found in Jesus Christ. It’s a reminder of the importance of not just religious fervor, but also a deep understanding of God’s truth.

Residing in Thailand with my dedicated wife, Kenzie, and our four children, our family is driven to share the transformative love of Jesus Christ with everyone. Through this blog, my aim is to cultivate a genuine zeal—one rooted in the profound truth that Jesus Christ is the ultimate source of life and hope.

Whether you’re already steeped in your Christian journey or simply curious about faith, I invite you to join me in this pursuit of “The Real Zeal.”

Please, don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m eager to connect and hear your thoughts.

In Christ alone,

Jesse Mitchum
